Christian Aid at 80 Part 1

As Christian Aid organiser for All Saints I meet occasionally with other church representatives from around Durham city. At our October gathering last year a guest,  Ronnie Moore came from Christian Aid to speak to us.
That was when I first heard that Christian Aid would celebrate 80 years of fundraising in 2025.
As well as the proposed event in Westminster Abbey she suggested there would be something happening on or near Hadrian’s Wall as its 84 mile length was a loose connection with 80 years.
I first heard about Emperor Hadrian and his incredible wall when I was in junior school, but I had rarely had the opportunity to be up close to it.
I hadn’t done any long walks for over 10 Years, probably because nobody I know is daft enough to volunteer to come with me, but I couldn’t shake off the idea that if no one else was interested I would just have to go and do it myself!
So I bought the handbook and map book, watched some You Tube videos and strengthened my resolve.
In March this year I was surprised to receive a personal email inviting me to go to the celebration at Westminster Abbey in June and gradually plans fell into place, First sort Christian Aid week, in May, then go to London in June to attend Westminster Abbey and Walk the Wall in July arriving in Haltwhistle (half way) to meet with walkers and cyclists and celebrate there.
