Senior Citizen Christmas Lunch 2013

In conjunction with Durham Lions, All Saints hosted a Christmas Lunch for a final total of 72 Senior citizens from our local community.

“Hi Joanne
George and I got tremendous pleasure from being with you, your  guests, volunteer helpers including those from Framwellgate School and the entertainers from the Blue Coat School at the Christmas party that you had so ably organised.  There was a lovely cross-section of the local community involved in many different ways. It was a wonderful culmination of effort.  I know that Adam was delighted with the results of our project.  It was especially a great result bearing in mind that you had not organised such a large party before.  Durham Lions congratulate you and your army of volunteers on  the success of your efforts.

I have attached a ‘thank you’ poster that we sent to Adam, who is going to display it in the store.  We thought you may like to put a copy of it on your notice board.

Durham Lions would like to take this opportunity of  wishing you and your helpers a very happy Christmas”

Holiday Club 2013

Early in the school holidays, lots of children spent a week learning what it was like to be  a Monk! Based on the Lindisfarne Gospels, the programme included stories, crafts, games and music to learn about the  northern saints such as Cuthbert, Bede and others.

Carol Singing with the Neighbours

Some of the members of All Saints were joined by local band Jazz in My Pants to lead us in our carol singing. Despite the cold and the snow, we were in high spirits and lifted our voices to all people shopping and passing by.

Carols and Nativity

Today saw the annual “Nativity Service with Carols” at All Saints, the pictures shows some of our young people who performed and wrote the play themselves. The play took a modern twist on the traditional Christmas story with angels breaking the news of Jesus’ arrival to Mary as she did the shopping at the supermarket and even included a brief appearance from Simon Cowell and Lord Alan Sugar!!

Boys Brigade welcome the District

Our very own Boys Brigade Company, (1st Newton Hall), were very pleased to host the Carol Service for the District.

It proved to be a good chance for lots of different Companies to get together and share in the worship and activities.
