The recent All Saints Outreach and Social Committee Ceilidh was a great success. The event was held in the local community at Bede Lodge Working Mens Club. People of all ages attended and feedback was excellent – including from those reluctant teenagers who despite thinking they would not enjoy it were almost always first on the dance floor. A big thank you to all those who donated raffle prizes. The event raised a proft of approximately £380 which will be added to the Building Fund.

All Saints were very pleased to welcome the City Of Durham 234 Squadron of the Air Cadets to join our service.

The first Sunday in February is always Air Cadet Sunday and All Saints are particularly attached to the Durham squadron as not only do they make use of our facilities but Joanne, (our Vicar), is also the squadrons Chaplain.

“The ‘Air Cadets’ provides the opportunity for members to take part in a huge and diverse range of exciting and challenging activities. Many are organized at National and Regional level, many others take place locally at Wing and Squadron levels.” For more information see: www.aircadets.org

Over this weekend, All Saints celebrated in grand style it’s 40th Birthday. The weekend started with a preview evening of the Christmas Tree Festival which ran through out advent. Church groups and local organisations sponsored trees which were decorated on the theme of a Christmas Song. The weekend coincided with the annual Christmas Fayre and culminated on the Sunday with two special services. We welcomed Rev Graham Carter, chairman of the Darlington Methodist district who spoke to us about preparation and what it means to be a true disciple of Christ. Messy Church ended the celebrations with a children’s party and informal time of worship. The picture shows our eldest and youngest members cutting our birthday cake on all our behalves.
